Swimming
pools safety systems
The
decree
specifying the safety system with which in the ground private outdoor
swimming pools must comply has at last come into force (on 31st
December 2003).
It specifies that the safety system must meet the EU or French
norms in this regard.
The French norms are NF P90-306 (barriers) and NF P90-307 (alarms).
Newly installed swimming pools, as well as those at properties
which are rented out, must comply with the legislation from
1st
January 2004
.
For other pools, the deadline is
1st
January 2006
.
Failure to comply with the law carries a 45,000 Euros penalty.
