New obligations for owners of ‘chambres d’hôtes’
Decree no. 2007-1173 of 3rd August 2007 introduced new
obligations for the owners of ‘chambres d’hôtes’. This activity is
defined as being the grouped provision of bed and breakfast and is
limited to a maximum number of five bedrooms with a maximum reception
capacity of fifteen people.
For
each bedroom, access must be given to a shower room and toilet in
compliance with the regulations in force in relation to hygiene,
security and public health measures. As a minimum, linen should be
provided.
In
addition, the activity should be declared to the mayor of the commune
where the ‘chambres d’hôtes’ is situated by e-mail, recorded letter or
in person to the town hall in return for a receipt. The declaration
should give the identity of the informant, the identification of his
domicile, the number of bedrooms, the maximum number of persons who can
be received and the provisional rental periods. Any change concerning
these elements of information should be the object of a new declaration.
For
those whose activity pre-dates the 4th August 2007, the
declaration was to be made at the latest by 31st December
2007 and the premises put into compliance with the regulations by the
same date.
